The King's Study
Studio del Re
This room contains some of the oldest furnishings, such as the superbly carved consoles by Giovan Battista Dolci (1765) and the refined rococo mirrors, while the writing desk with its "bois de violette" veneer, rosewood and chased and gilded bronze, an exquisite piece made by Pierre Migeon (c. 1750), had belonged to the Duchess of Parma who had acquired it in Paris. The Savoys, evidently impressed with the piece's workmanship, brought it to Florence from Parma in 1868, along with the rare and exquisite ebony and ivory cabinet in "Beidermeier" style, taken from Bologna.
