The Prudence Room
Sala della Prudenza
later, The Garden Maidens' Room
The figure on the canvas in the center of the ceiling, along with the three putti and the elegant figure of a woman, are often attributed to Passignano (1559-1638) on the basis of a preparatory drawing in the Uffizi (n. 15414 F), but the attribution is uncertain.
This room contains three tapestries from the Royal Gobelin Factory, with the famous theme of the garden Muses. The mood of refined country life given to the room by the tapestries is complemented by the beautiful chandelier of blown Murano glass, depicted with tulips and other flowers, motifs that appear in the veneered and inlaid bureau, made by the grand ducal workshop in the first quarter of the 18th century and now in the Porcelain Museum at the Pitti.
