The Room of the Cupids
Sala dei Putti
During Medici times this room was part of the service area adjacent to the rooms of the grand duke. Under the Lorenese (1770 to about 1790), it was a part of the apartment of Maria Teresa daughter of Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo of Lorraine.
During the Napoleonic period this room and several others were connected to the Room of Fame to create a large dining room. After the return of Ferdinando III 1814, the rooms were once again separated and ultimately housed the collection of 17th century Flemish and Dutch paintings.
At the center of the ceiling are three putti in flight, the work of Antonio Marini in about 1830.
