Treasure Room
Tesoretta
The decoration of the tesoretto, or small treasure room, strictly follows the ornamental repertoire of Cinganelli and his assistants, as seen in the Medici villas at Careggi, Poggio Imperiale, and the Casino Mediceo. A payment dated 1625 to the painter refers to work accomplished in December of 1622. A specialist (possibly Giuliano Fratellini) was probably involved in the execution of this work.
The room contains 16th, 17th, and 18th century collections of small gems formerly held in the Uffizi and recently moved for exhibition here.
