Muletto Mezzanine
This area is found between the seventeenth century apartments of Cardinal Giovan Carlo, Ferdinando II's brother, on the piano nobile and those on the ground floor . The area assigned to Giovan Carlo was at the end of the so-called Volteranno Wing (Quartiere Volteranno), the first half of which, on the piano nobile, was occupied by the apartments of the Grand Duchess Vittoria della Rovere. From the last room, one could descend a stairway to the mezzanine below [where Giovan Carlo's grotto was located] and then cross to another stairway that gave access to the Boboli Garden.
